Meet Jodie
Jodie Montgomery has led Women’s Ministry at area Bible Studies and her church for over 30 years; more than 13 years as a Women’s Ministry Manager at Idlewild Baptist Church. She is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary and the University of South Florida. She celebrates life by taking walks with her husband Scott and having game nights, when all are in town, with her grown children Samuel, Sarah & Susan. She enjoys seeing others discover His Life through His Word.
Jodie has lived most of her adult life in Florida but her childhood was spent in Fort Benning, Georgia; Lawton, Oklahoma; Bloomfield, Iowa; Columbia, Missouri; Fayetteville, North Carolina; College Park, Maryland; and Austin, Texas. Her dad was in the military!
Jodie’s time in Maryland was spent studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Maryland where she met sweet Scott Montgomery who transferred from Chemical Engineering to Civil. Chemical Engineering connected them! They transferred to the University of South Florida to be near Jodie’s Mom and finish their Bachelor’s Degrees then moved to Texas as Scott did his Structural Engineering Masters at the University of Texas at Austin and Jodie worked at her first consulting engineering job. Following Scott’s graduation, Jodie and Scott moved back to Florida as being near her mom means a lot to Jodie! Scott and Jodie worked consulting engineering jobs at different firms in Tampa for five years before they learned through Jodie finally starting to attend Bible Study that children were a blessing from God. They decided to change their career centered focus to consider having a family. Their first child Sam totally redirected their world!
Jodie resigned from engineering after having their third child. By this time, both Jodie and Scott were actively leading Bible Studies in their area. When their children were school age, Jodie attended Dallas Theological Seminary eventually getting her Masters in Biblical Studies in the midst of a bout with breast cancer. Jodie’s invite to lead women’s ministry at her church came when her Pastor’s wife called while Jodie was cleaning her bathrooms. Seemed like an ideal time to start something new! Jodie has been leading Women’s Ministry at her church for over thirteen years. The heart of this Women’s Ministry is Bible study, prayer, and discipleship.
The Montgomery house is a bit quiet these days which equates to some time to write and try and figure out social media. All three children graduated from college. The alma maters include The University of Florida and The University of South Florida so the household are Gator and Bulls fans. Sarah and Susan are married so the family has joyfully gained Gannon and Cody. Two family dogs still remain with Scott and Jodie. You are welcome to come walk them.
